FAQ

  • Do you offer an airport transfer service?

Yes. Our driver charges 2000 THB for the service. The drive to the gym is roughly 2 hours from Survarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

  • Is there training on Sundays?

No. Like most muay Thai gyms in Thailand, Sundays is the only rest day. It’s charged at the regular rate.

  • What equipment should I bring?

The essentials are hand wraps, mouth guard, shin guards, gloves and shorts. You need quite a few pairs of shorts for training twice a day in the Thai heat. We have equipment here for use, but many people like to take advantage of the Thai prices and pick up some gear in Bangkok during their stay.

  • Do the trainers speak English?

Not fluently though they try their best. Most have a basic vocabulary of Muay Thai related terms. We also have some bilingual people at the gym who can act as translators.

  • Is it possible to get a sak yant while I’m there?

Yes we can arrange sak yants through a local temple. Receiving a sak yant is a sacred process; we suggest you thoroughly research the subject beforehand.

  • How do I make a booking and how far in advance do I have to book?

Just email us at sitmonchaigym@gmail.com or contact us through social media with your preferred dates and we can reserve a space for you. Usually a month’s notice is sufficient.

  • Do you sponsor (non Thai) fighters? If I fight for the gym, can I get a discount on the training package?

In a word, no. The cost of feeding, training, housing fighters, and getting them and their corners to events is considerable. Most often these expenses heavily outweigh the average purse for a non Thai fighters in the highly competitive Bangkok area.

  • Are there hotels and/or room rentals in the area?

We’re located in a small town and there aren’t a lot of options other than the gym accommodation. Apartments don’t come up for rent very often, and when they do, they often require a minimum 4 month lease. If you’re planning to come longterm, but want to stay outside of the gym, we can discuss the options with you directly.

  • What does it mean when the gym is full?

We keep a limit on the amount of students we can train, so as to keep the quality of training high and maintain the intimate, family atmosphere. When the gym is full, it means we’ve also means we have also reached capacity with the number of students we can train.
